Health Testing and Your 2 Year Health Guarantee

 

DNA profiling provides us with an accurate and reliable record for all our Labradoodles. We also test for hereditary diseases that allow for diagnosis of any disease status of our dogs (clear, carrier or affected) and all of our dogs are DNA tested and tested for PRA - Progressive Retinal Atrophy, which allows us to breed responsibily. 

 

We also test for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, which can be a genetic and/or environmental condition.  This is why it is really important to discourage your puppy/dog from jumping to prevent hip problems, especially during early growth periods.  This is a debilitating condition, dysplasia is the failure of the hip joints, they don't develop normally and gradually deteriorate, which leads to loss of function of the hip joints and mobility.

 

Hip dysplasia is a very common skeletal diseases in dogs. Gender doesn't seem to be an issue, but some breeds are more likely to have a genetic predisposition for hip dysplasia than other breeds. This is why we have our dogs tested and any dog failing this testing is desexed and retired from our breeding program.

 

Dysplasia is a painful condition and no dog deserves this, especially when responsible breeding can help prevent this condition.  Treatment usually requires surgery and this can be very expensive. This is why it is very important to buy your labradoodle from a registered breeder, one who performs this testing on all their breeding dogs.
